Tom Wiens

Tom Wiens is a seasoned entrepreneur, and rancher whose impact spans multiple industries, from banking and finance to public policy and the sport of cutting. As Chairman of Wiens Ranch Company, Inc., he has transformed the ranch into the premier destination for cutting horses on the Front Range, continuing a legacy of breeding and developing National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) champions. With lifetime NCHA earnings of $113,893.71, Tom’s contributions to the cutting world include the legendary The Smart Look, whose offspring continue to shape the sport today.

Beyond his equestrian pursuits, Tom has played a pivotal role in structuring, financing, and managing major business ventures. He has led the planning, design, and construction of numerous projects, successfully navigating mergers and acquisitions while earning U.S. and international patents for his innovations. He serves as a Director and Principal of Firstier Banks, operating across Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado, as well as an Officer and Director of Firstier Bancorp II. Additionally, he is the CEO of New West Capital, LLC (NWC), a company specializing in financial services and investment strategies.

Tom’s leadership extends into public service, where he served as both a State Representative and State Senator in Colorado. As the Republican Caucus Chair in the Colorado Senate, he played a key role in shaping policy across committees such as Business Affairs and Labor, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Select Committee on Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. His legislative achievements include authoring nationally recognized school safety laws and developing Colorado’s wildfire initial air attack emergency preparedness program, earning him honorary membership in the Colorado State Fire Chiefs Association. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Legislator of the Year from the Independent Bankers Association and the Guardian of Small Business award from the NFIB.

A thought leader in business and public policy, Tom has served on the board of The Children’s Hospital Research Institute Foundation and the National Cutting Horse Association. His philanthropic work includes advocating for persecuted Christians in the Middle East and supporting various charitable organizations.

He and his wife, Diana, have been married for 42 years, raising four children and welcoming nine grandchildren. They reside at Wiens Ranch, south of Sedalia, Colorado, where they continue to share their passion for the Western way of life and the sport of cutting with future generations.
